Tong Sui wore only a thin sweater.
When he got into the taxi, he glanced at the time and said, “Driver, can you go a bit faster? I have an urgent matter.”
The driver agreed without hesitation.
Tong Sui arrived at the competition venue, panting as he held his ticket.
A staff member said, “Sorry, we have already stopped checking tickets.”
Had he arrived a little too late?
“Wait,” another staff member said, “You are Tong Sui, right?”
Tong Sui looked up.
The staff member excitedly exclaimed and pulled him forward, “Hurry, hurry! The competition hasn’t started yet; you can still get in through the side door.”
After opening the side door, Tong Sui was shocked by the crowd before him; the venue was packed because it was a match of the most popular team.
The competitors on stage had already taken their seats.
Tong Sui found his spot and, not wanting to draw attention, quickly walked past with his head down and sat down in haste.
After he sat down, he let out a sigh of relief and looked up at the two teams on stage.
The host was warming up the crowd with some opening remarks.
Though Tong Sui’s entrance had been discreet, it was hard to ignore his presence since he was in the front row, a spot that had usually been empty until today.
The camera panned over.
When the originally intended match summary turned into a stunningly beautiful face on the big screen, the venue instantly buzzed with noise.
Chi Xingyu noticed the commotion below and frowned slightly.
He casually glanced at the big screen not far away and froze, then hurriedly turned to search for Tong Sui in the crowd. Seeing him sitting in the front row melted the icy demeanor Chi Xingyu usually held.
Tong Sui flashed him a gesture of encouragement.
Chi Xingyu lifted his chin, sitting up straighter.
The match soon started.
Chi Xingyu was dressed in a dark team uniform, wearing headphones, his expression cold as he stared at his computer monitor, seemingly unaffected by the charged atmosphere around him.
This was the first time Tong Sui had seen Chi Xingyu play a professional match.
Unlike his usual laid-back demeanor, Chi Xingyu appeared sharp and brilliant in that moment, exuding an extraordinary charm that completely dominated the tense atmosphere.
With his exceptional gameplay, the crowd’s energy soared to unprecedented heights.
This seemed to be Chi Xingyu’s best performance of the entire season, leaving his opponents powerless to retaliate.
After the match result was announced, Chi Xingyu’s team became the strongest in the PCL region, earning a spot in the global qualifiers.
Following their victory, there was the usual media interview in the background, but Chi Xingyu had completely forgotten about it, dialing a video call to Tong Sui while rushing out.
From a distance, he spotted Tong Sui standing in the snow, quickly running up to him, hugging him tightly, and kissing him passionately without hesitation.
His kiss was especially hot, making Tong Sui, who had not kissed anyone for some time, almost unable to handle it.
After catching his breath from the intense kiss, Chi Xingyu finally calmed down a bit and asked, “Why did you suddenly come?”
Tong Sui, still catching his breath, replied, “Did you… not want to see me?”
“I did, I dreamed about it,” Chi Xingyu seemed like a different person from the cold professional player on stage, his whole demeanor now attached to Tong Sui, “Why are you dressed so lightly?”
“I didn’t expect it to be this cold,” Tong Sui said, “I was in a hurry to get here and didn’t have time to buy clothes.”
Chi Xingyu took off his team jacket, draping the warm garment over Tong Sui’s shoulders and zipping it up.
He seemed quite satisfied to see Tong Sui wearing his team’s uniform.
Surrounded by the white expanse, Chi Xingyu slipped his hand into Tong Sui’s pocket, and they walked hand in hand through the snow, leaving two long footprints behind.
“Buzz, buzz, buzz.”
Tong Sui pulled out Chi Xingyu’s phone from the pocket of his coat. “It’s your coach calling.”
Chi Xingyu answered the call and switched to speaker mode.
The coach scolded, “Where have you been? The interviewers are looking for you by name! Don’t think just because you performed well today, you can stop worrying.”
Although he spoke reproachfully, his tone was filled with pride.
Chi Xingyu replied, “I’ve done so many interviews before; one more doesn’t matter.”
He was just eager to share his joy with Tong Sui, as he hadn’t seen him in a long time.
“…Are you coming to the dinner later?” the coach asked.
At that moment, Chi Xingyu had no desire to eat.
He declined flatly and hung up. The coach shook his head at several teammates, “Since Chi Xingyu isn’t coming, let’s go celebrate ourselves.”
One of the teammates commented, “Of course he wouldn’t want to come if his partner is here.”
“If it were me, I wouldn’t want to either. I always thought Chi Xingyu was over the top for being so enchanted, but seeing the real person today, I realized he looks so much better than on camera. Who wouldn’t be taken in?”
“Talking too much only shows envy.”
Chi Xingyu brought Tong Sui back to the hotel near the competition venue where he was staying. After entering, he turned on the heating and handed Tong Sui a cup of warm tea.
Tong Sui sat on the edge of the bed, holding the cup with both hands.
On the way back, a few snowflakes had fallen, slightly dampening his soft black hair, and his sneakers were already soaked from walking in the snow.
Chi Xingyu knelt down, helping him take off his wet shoes and socks.
“Your feet are so cold.” Chi Xingyu’s warm palm encircled Tong Sui’s foot, which looked especially fair and lustrous in the light after being hidden away for so long.
“Can I warm them for a bit?”
Tong Sui felt a bit embarrassed. “No need, you can get up…”
Chi Xingyu didn’t move, but looked up at him, the intense emotion in his eyes something Tong Sui had seen many times before, mostly in bed.
